The History of Hale Napili, Our Napili Bay Hotel
Hale Napili is an exquisite small resort located at the midpoint of Napili Bay, easily one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Our Lahaina Maui hotel started with ten original condominium units built in 1960, Hale Napili was one of only three Napili Bay hotels. In 1971, eight units were added, bringing the total number of units to eighteen. Four are 1-bedroom and fourteen are studio condominiums. Today, Hale Napili is surrounded by a number of other low-rise condominiums but remains a priceless beachfront gem.
The entire resort underwent significant renovations to the infrastructure and exterior in the fall of 2011 and again in 2021. Many upgrades to individual accommodations have been made, including granite countertops, designer fixtures, and hand-crafted tiled showers. Each unit at Hale Napili is individually owned and is furnished and decorated according to the owner’s preferences.
Hale Napili has become a home away from home for many guests. Our tradition of all-embracing aloha spirit began with Louise and Lawrence Kamaka in 1960. Until their retirement in 1994, Auntie Louise and Uncle Larry made every guest feel special and welcomed as members of their extended family.
The family tradition of Aloha continued with their daughter Patti Sharp, until her retirement in 2011. Hale Napili is on the third generation of local family management with Jamie Lum Lung-Kaeo. Jamie welcomes guests with that same Aloha spirit of family that began more than 50 years ago.
