The Famous Road to Hana
There is no drive more scenic or more famous than the Road to Hana. If it’s not already, it should be at the top of your bucket list! This legendary drive takes you through a rugged landscape, dramatic ocean vistas, lush tropical rainforests, and past multiple waterfalls.
The drive can be quite treacherous at some points, as there are many tight curves (620 in total) and one-lane bridges (59 of them!) While you can drive yourself, we recommend taking a tour. Sit back and relax during the tour and really take in the sights around you. Since the Road to Hana is so popular, tours also help reduce the flow of traffic, which helps locals navigate through their own area. Tours include expert guides who will share the history and may even take you to places that you wouldn’t find otherwise!
Make sure to have your camera (or phone) and charger, comfortable clothes and shoes, and a swimsuit for your journey. If you’re prone to motion sickness (all those tight curves will get you!), make sure to plan ahead so you’ll be able to enjoy every minute of your day!
