Island Holidays

Maui Things To Do

Holidays throughout the year can have a small impact on your stay in Maui at Hale Napili. As a U.S. State, Hawaii observes the ten Federal Holidays held nationwide, plus a few State Holidays that celebrates the islands' unique history and culture. A complete list of these dates can be found below:

    Honolulu fireworks
  • New Year's Day - January 1
  • Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day – January, Third Monday
  • Presidents' Day – February, Third Monday
  • Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole Day – March 26
  • Good Friday – Friday before Easter
  • Memorial Day – May, Final Monday
  • King Kamehameha I Day – June 11
  • Independence Day – July 4
  • Statehood Day – August, Third Friday
  • Labor Day – September, First Monday
  • Veterans Day – November 11
  • Thanksgiving – November, Fourth Thursday
  • Christmas – December 25

Banks closing on these dates tend to have the greatest impact on travelers' plans. Although public schools and government offices may also observe them, Maui State Parks are generally open year round, and may only change to reduced hours during state holidays. On the other hand, festivals are often held on King Kamehameha Day, and businesses may offer special deals or dishes during the classic "holiday season" from October through December.

As always, the best bet for travelers who will be vacationing during these Hawaii state holidays is to research or call any business organizations your plans for that day depend on.
